Cosplay Props

What's the Project...?

This Project is for me to get out of my comfort zone and learn something new.

Towards my interest on Games and as a big fan of Final Fantasy Series.... Especially Final Fantasy 7

I had a project to make a full-size Buster sword for a Cosplay Event

Mood Board

Review of the project

Starting with a flat large size pine timber for the foundation and majority of the structure of the Sword.

First using a Jigsaw to cut and trim the timber to the require shape, then using a template to note and section off the improtant design elements of the prop. Point to edge sections to the Hilt of the sword.

Later made the design pieces for the Materia orbs (Magic spheres) that will be placed inside the sword itself. which is the Rain guard of the sword.

Then it was making the Cross guard, which was using spare timber of pine and thin timber.

After doing all the major sections of the Blade and Drilling down the Cross guard down.

Drilling holes to mark up the Materia ords to be placed and trim sections that are the design elements of the sword. The majority of the work is situated at the Cross guard and Rain guard.

Making the Materia ords I used Resin - slow harder as it was more safe to use and more for hobby base craft.

eventually I used colour dye and glitter to make it close to the Game.

Later as many hours of sanding to make the edge and point be smooth and at shape of a blade but not to sharp to have timber ticking out. Then i taped the places for the different colours to be spray painted.

Black is the major colour of the sword, the blade section I added white to mimic the Original FF7 game.
